R3Survey
R3Survey is an add-in for AutoCAD and Civil 3D built for land surveyors. It adds the survey-specific tools that AutoCAD doesn't ship with — traverse entry, automated field-to-drawing workflows, LandXML import/export, and a properties panel that displays polyline properties in bearings and distances instead of coordinates.
It's built by a surveyor in NSW who got tired of the workarounds and Lisp routines & VBA macros that most survey offices rely on. R3Survey makes drafting survey plans easy.
What it does
Traverse entry
Enter a survey traverse using DMS, decimal degrees, surveyor's bearings, or gons. Lengths in metres, feet & inches, links, international and US feet — fully customisable. Supports arcs, swing lines, and unit conversion.
R3Properties panel
Select any line, arc, or polyline and instantly read its bearing, distance, arc details, and area. Display distances, bearings, and areas in any unit. Updates live as you click through the drawing.
Smart Strings
Process field data into finished linework. Offsets, arcs, circles, best-fit rectangles, string intersections — all driven by point codes and attributes. Conditional layer assignment, attribute-driven geometry, and surface breakline integration.
Surveyor's toolkit
Survey plan layer management to organise multiple plans in one drawing. Polyline tools — reverse, offset with unit conversion, copy segments. Leica/Hexagon XML export. Work in metres, feet, links, or chains.
NSW digital plan export
Import & export NSW LandXML. Export files that comply with the LRS ePlan lodgement rules. R3Survey validates your plan against LRS requirements before export — misclose checks, area consistency, metadata completeness, sequential lot numbering. Validate exported XML. Import SCIMS data.
Labelling & dimensions
Auto-label boundaries with bearings, distances, and arc details. Short line and arc tables and RM tables. Configurable rounding — decimal places or significant figures for bearings, distances, and areas. Dimension overrides for legal values that differ from drawn geometry. Handles model space and paper space.

R3Survey comes in two editions. Both are annual subscriptions.
